Background: Chanda L. Brown brings to Walton + Brown LLP extensive experience in complex serious personal injury, wrongful death, civil rights, and employment litigation matters. She is no stranger to the courtroom and is unafraid to battle large corporations and entities, but she takes pride in her extensive career fighting for victims both in and out of court. Wherever Chanda shows up, she is fully equipped to do battle and her clients reap the benefits of her knowledge, organization, and calm demeanor.

Chanda is a nationally recognized trial attorney. She’s served as a guest legal analyst on the true crime show, For My Man, on TV One, and has made appearances as a legal expert on numerous nationally syndicated programs, including CBS This Morning, and NewsOne Now. She’s been featured as an “Attorney to Know” by the Ohio State Bar Association and has been quoted and interviewed numerous times by well-respected magazines and newspapers such as Essence magazine and the LA Times.

Prior to forming Walton + Brown, LLP, Chanda was the lead trial attorney in a local Columbus personal injury law firm for seven years. She also worked as an attorney with the United States Department of Labor, where she gained valuable insight into various employment law cases.

Education: Chanda received her bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems (summa cum laude) from Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama. A native of Dayton, Ohio, Chanda returned to Dayton and received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Dayton. While at the University of Dayton, Chanda was awarded several academic scholarships and was selected to be a member of the school's prestigious Moot Court team. She received CALI (highest grade) awards in several classes and graduated in the top tier of her class. Chanda also holds the prestigious distinction of being an OSBA Board Certified Specialist in Labor and Employment law. Fewer than 2% of licensed practicing attorneys in Ohio are Certified Specialists in their area(s) of practice. Attorneys who have achieved this designation are among an exclusive group of professionals in the legal services community.

In the Community: Chanda is deeply committed to advocating for employee rights and access to justice. She currently serves as a board member for the Ohio Employment Lawyers Association (OELA), a professional organization dedicated to advancing employee rights and supporting attorneys who fight for equality and justice in the workplace. In addition, she serves on the board of Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio, which provides essential legal services to underserved communities. Chanda is also an active member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Columbus Bar Association, and the Central Ohio Association for Justice.

For her legal expertise, Chanda has been invited to teach legal education courses to fellow attorneys through the National Business Institute. She regularly teaches classes on a variety of legal topics, from how to use digital media in the courtroom to recent development in the Ohio Rules of Evidence.

Chanda is an active member of the Columbus (OH) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, where she serves on the Social Action Committee and the Policies and Procedures Committee.

Family Life: Chanda is married and lives with her husband, Robert, and their two children in Columbus, OH. Chanda is originally from Louisville, KY but grew up in Dayton, OH and has lived in Columbus for the last ten years.
